Dear Mr.Briggs,
Excuse us for not answering
you so long. This is Tatiana Lasareva writing, the teacher who has not gone
to the USA. Thank you very much for coming to our school and speaking to
teachers and students. The students are fond of you and your life style.
They enjoyed listening to you at the meeting in the reading-room. They
say, that it is sometimes difficult to understand Americans (due to pronunciation
and intonation), but they understood perfectly well what you were saying.
I explained to them that you are a teacher and know how to address the
audience and how to explain in other words if people do not understand.
All the guys admire your
courage to travel alone round the world by bicycle. At your presentation
they learned
many new things about the
world, the peoples of different counties and their lifestyles. Some facts
you told them were a real discovery to some of them, for example, global
issues. They could not even fancy that one can go round the world
on a bicycle and carry out the ideas of peace, friendship and tolerance.
It is very important now, since we are at the theshold of the third millenium
and the future belongs to the children. It depends on them if our
fragile planet will exist in future. We think that you succeeded in convincing
the teennages to live in peace, friendship and tolerance with all nations.
Meeting you was
one more open door and window for our students to see
the world.
Thank you again for coming
and sharing your ideas with us. We feel that Americans are open-hearted
and concerned. The students who have recently returned from the USA
say, that Americans are also very hospitable and polite. So thank
you for sharing your life with us.
How do you feel after the
ride? Did everything go well?
Best regards,
Tatiana Lazareva.
